Each year the show invites new, exciting artists with exceptional respect for an age-old tradition, a keen eye for detail, and a thorough understanding of the artistic medium. The ASBA, in conjunction with the Hort, pursues the goal of creating a thriving, interactive community dedicated to perpetuating the tradition and contemporary practice of botanical art.

In exhibitions such as this one, plants are depicted in aesthetically pleasing works that stimulate the senses. Artists teach us how to observe and appreciate plants, thereby awakening awareness of our fragile environment. Contemporary botanical artists have an important role in flourishing field with a rich past and a bright future.

The Horticultural Society of New York is dedicated to sustaining the vital connection between people and plants. Their social service programs educate, inspire, and heal with the transformative power of nature. The Hort creates learning gardens in underserved neighborhoods, operates the largest horticultural therapy program in the nation on Rikers Island, provides transitional employment for at-risk teens, and transforms public plazas in low-income neighborhoods.
