BRETT BELDOCK

Why use a designer?
To interpret your wishes and take you a few steps beyond your own thinking.

Why shop the trade?
To find better quality items.

What is your most valued design tip?
Only buy things you love! Never settle. Mix price points. Don’t buy trends, buy timeless.

What makes your style unique?
My rooms have a freshness and timeless feeling.

Who is your design icon and why?
Holly Hunt and Christian Liagre for seeing a design void, making a business and fabulous chic furniture. Karl Lagerfeld for his ability to channel Chanel, speak for the Fendi sisters and be a photographer. Chanel for changing fashion. Mr. Beene for changing American fashion. Yves St. Laurent for making timeless clothing. Herzog and de Meuron for creating inventive architecture.

If you were a piece of furniture, what would you be and why?
If I was a piece of furniture I would be a huge 82” x 40” standing mirror. People would like at me and I would reflect them. That is really the job of a good designer anyway.

Who is your favorite fashion designer?
Balenciaga the original was timeless and now they are great. Yves St. Laurent also timeless and today is still great. Alexander McQueen was out of this world. J.Crew and Azzedine Alaia for reinventing the knit.

If you could live in a different time period, when would it be and why?
I would have liked to have been a painter in East Hampton in the 60’s with Pollock, Lee Krasner and de Koonig. Or maybe to have been in Paris in the mid 20’s with all of the painters.

Name three things you cannot live without.
My boxer Grace and she is 15! My 20 year old orange faced Hermes watch. Netflix. Diorissimo eau de
