Why use a designer?
Designers have a breadth of knowledge and expertise that goes far beyond shopping and sourcing fabric and furniture.  An understanding of scale, proportion, design and aesthetics, as well as fabrication, planning, and coordination are all valuable tools of the trade.

Why shop the trade?
Shopping the trade allows the opportunity to source furniture, fabric, rugs and accessories that one might not otherwise have access to or even know about.  Trade resources offer the best of what the industry has to offer.

What is your most valued design tip?
There’s perfection in imperfection. Different textures and finishes add interest to a space.  Don’t shy away from a piece of furniture that’s a little rough around the edges or has a faded or chipped finish.  It adds character and layers of interest when mixed with other finer pieces.

What makes your style unique?
I design with a modern sensibility using traditional elements – classic modern or ‘new traditional’ would best describe my aesthetic.  I’m very influenced by the history, tradition and techniques of what I’m designing and gravitate towards crafted pieces – whether finely bench made furniture, a Moroccan tribal rug woven by hand, or a simple yet beautifully crafted ceramic vessel.

Who is your design icon and why?
John Saladino. He has an extraordinary artistic approach to space very much like a painting.  I have great admiration for his soft palettes, lush fabrics and well worn finishes.  His interiors are classic and serene yet still modern and relevant to the way we live today.

If you were a piece of furniture, what would you want to be and why?
A family heirloom like a chest or bureau.   It has a sense of time, place and history and holds some of life’s most precious items and memories.

Who is your favorite fashion designer?
Oscar de La Renta.

What is your ideal getaway/escape?
A place of intrigue, exploration and discovery.  Marrakesh, Paris, Venice, Buenos Aires.

Name three things you cannot live without:
My passport, good bed linens and chocolate!
