On Wednesday, June 15th, fashion luminaries including Joe Zee, Rob Younkers and Robert Geller co-hosted the “Fashion Celebrates Foster Pride” benefit in the 1stdibs Gallery at 200 Lex. The New York Design Center was delighted to donate the space to help raise money and awareness for Foster Pride, which mentors foster children and was named “One of NYC’s 4 Best Charities” by CBS.com.
Fashion and Foster Pride are a natural fit, since one of Foster Pride’s key programs is HandMade, which teaches young women in foster care how to crochet–and to run a small business selling their unique goods at stores such as Nordstrom’s, American Eagle’s Soho boutique and Milk on the Rocks in Paris. This past spring, students from the Parson’s School of Design teamed up with Foster Pride students to produce a new and edgy line of crocheted chokers, bags and bracelets, which will be debuted at the party.
The event raised over $40,000 which will go directly toward programming for this great organization!
