KEVIN ISBELL
Why use a designer?
A qualified designer can help to navigate the pitfalls of the design process saving the client time and money.
Why shop the trade?
To the trade sources are a great way to customize your home without the fear of everyone you know owning the same thing, as is the case with catalog retailers.
What is your most valued design tip?
Think outside the box, seemingly different periods and styles can work well together if scale and proportion are considered.
What makes your style unique?
Style can be found in all periods and price points. I take the best, filtered through my sensibility, to create a home unique to the client.
Who is your design icon and why?
Givenchy, his personal style was effortless and chic.
If you were a piece of furniture, what would you want to be and why?
A Robsjohn-Gibbings Klismos chair. This chair is steeped in tradition but is interpreted in a modern way. They look great in any interior.
What is your ideal getaway/escape?
Escape is about shutting down and relaxing and less about location. A weekend at the beach without my computer, blackberry, iPad, you get the idea.
If you could live in a different time period, when would it be and why?
NYC in the 1920’s. This was the American belle époque period. Everything was fresh, modern and people took pride in their appearance.
