Tony Duquette Rug Collection
by Roubini Inc.
Apr 27, 2010
“Beauty, not luxury, is what I value” was something Tony Duquette was known to say. However, despite Duquette’s proclamation Roubini Rugs has managed to incorporate both beauty and luxury in their new Tony Duquette Rug Collection.
Hutton Wilkinson, Duquette’s friend and business partner, provided Roubini Rugs with designs from the notable archives of the legendary artist. These original drawings, jewelry, fabrics and tales inspired Mr. Roubini to create a collection of eight hand-knotted rugs and two tapestries woven in the manner of Aubussons.
Hand-knotted by exceptional craftsman, each rug has its own personality; some in all wool, some in all silk and some in both wool and silk. Themes of the rugs vary from semi precious stones (Malachite & Pacific Coral) to set designs woven into tapestries (The Beauty & The Beast). Other themes have their own luxurious provenance such as the Ermineseries, or Eastern influences as in the Golden Sunburst, Fireworks and the Tibetan Sun.
The Roubini Company took Duquette’s love of everything beautiful in design and made them available to those who want to own an authentic piece of an extraordinary era. Visit the showroom in Suite 701, and call for more information 212.696.4648.
